VIP, Now what is this all about?

People are naturally fearful when they attend a new church the first time. Their mind is racing with questions. Will I have to speak? Will I have to stand or sit or know when too? Will they ask for money? What if I get lost? What if the message is boring and I go a snoring?

Understand people do show up each week and many have these fears. How can I help ease their fear and provide them with an over the top experience where they can follow Jesus? Go on, think how you can do that each week, even if you don’t actively serve on the Guest Services Team. Check Out this blog to find some simple things you can do to assist. http://fellowshipga.org/blog/2012/05/11/party-crashers-or-invited-guest/

How do I know who a VIP Guest might be? Look for a person carrying a Green Guest Bag. This is a person to be greeted. Your greeting will be that step to help.

See Ya Sunday!

Party Crashers or Invited Guest?

Hi folks,
Have you ever went to a place that required someone to assist you and found the experience to be less than desired? You are thinking of those place now because you will not shop or go there. Now think about the places that you do go, the folks that help you probably know your name (CHEERS), your favorite food or special ingedients for that great cup of coffee.
Ever been invited to a party that where you were made you feel unwanted? You were treated like the partry crasher.
But how about when you were invited and found yourself to be the special guest. Now we are having fun!
Your guest service team has been reading and working on ways to create a new VIP Experience for First Time Attendees. We will be trying some new things in the weeks to come and ask you join us by doing some simple things.
1. Allow guest to park in the VIP Parking area.
2. Move to the center of the row, leave the aisle seats open.
3. Greet people all around.
4. Invite your friends to join you in making first timers feel special.
When First Timers show up they will think, “Wow! These folks were expexting me and were happy to see me.
Plan now to join in the Fellowship church VIP Experience!

How to Give Yourself Away

I got a message from Amanda about the blog pointing out several volunteer positions that are open at Fellowship Church. So it got me thinking about what serving as a volunteer means to a Christ follower.

1 Peter 4:8-11 (MSG)
8 Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything.
9 Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless—cheerfully.
10 Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it:
11 if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything—encores to the end of time. Oh, yes!

In this passage, Peter was outlining for us the idea of serving.  What if each of us would love (serve) others as if our life depended on it?  So many times we fail to give ourselves away and in doing so we rob others of a great blessing.  People go hungry or without a place to sleep because we don’t take the time to serve.   How many times do we look around our world to find people who need us to serve them?

Being generous means taking what God has given us and giving it away, cheerfully.  Often times when faced with being generous we do so, but with great regret and frustration.  The KJV says, without grudging, or without murmuring (complaining).   This got me thinking what does it mean to murmur?  I think the implication is that we complain and dislike.  Ultimately to serve others begrudgingly, negates our gift to them.  So, in essence, if we don’t learn to be generous with joy, then our acts of service are in vain.

Take a moment to consider serving in one of the following areas at Fellowship Church.  By doing so you can be sure that you will be blessed.  Why not give it a try!

Love Wins – Action Steps

On Sunday we concluded the Love Wins series, a study of I Corinthians 13. In this chapter, Paul was writing to a church that was struggling with unity and love. As Christ followers, we are to put love above all else.

At the conclusion of the message on Sunday, I gave 5 Actions Steps to Loving, as a reminder and a quick reference I wanted to post them here. Practice them and watch how your world will change.

Actions Steps:

  1. Make a point to tell those you love, I love you.
  2. Act like you love them.
  3. Love those who are your enemies.
  4. Love Christ by practicing obedience.
  5. Love people who are far from God enough that they see Jesus in you.
Remember what we said would happen if we love as Jesus loved?

Our community would be stronger.

Our families would be stronger.

Our marriages would be stronger.

Our church would be stronger.

Have a great week!

I Will Never Forget How Kind He Has Been.

Usually around Thanksgiving and at the Year’s end I tend to look back at the previous year. The aid of TV, Newspapers, magazines and the Internet there is wealth of things to look back on the following year. Just today MSN had a poll on which stories were the most popular. http://news.ca.msn.com/money/killing-of-bin-laden-voted-top-news-story
What will be the most popular story of 2012? The end of the world, Yes those folks are back again. They might be right this time. Or will it be…Oh well that’s not what started this thought. This verse started me to think, “[(By David.)][The LORD's Wonderful Love]With all my heart I praise the LORD, and with all that I am I praise his holy name! With all my heart I praise the LORD! I will never forget how kind he has been.” Psalm 103:1-2 CEV
His kindness goes beyond all measure. I fail daily, hourly, well a lot. I go to the throne and ask forgiveness for my sins. Repentance is a key part in having a proper relationship with God. I am thankful His grace never runs out.
