It’s Hard!
For some strange reason, Easter for me this year didn’t hold what I expected, anticipated, and even planned for. Even to share this seems somewhat like I am sinning. Easter is supposed to be a big day of celebration and praise, but this year nothing.
Personally, I did all I could to prepare; I rested, studied, sought Him, and even asked in prayer for God to do amazing things. I truly anticipated that God would move, and we would see a great harvest at Fellowship Church, but to me it was uneventful and blah. Don’t get me wrong, Jesus Arose; and, that in itself, is glorious and amazing. The fact that God loved me more than I could love myself is overwhelming. However, in my remembrance there seemed to be a silence.
Since Sunday, I have struggled with how to reconcile my feelings, am I broken. What did I do wrong or not do right? How could the biggest day in the year pass without me sensing His presence in a new and exciting way? I prayed about it, nothing. I talked with the team members at FC and nothing stood out. Tina and I talked, and I expressed my feelings and I just could not put my finger on it.
This morning Mickey sent me a blog post that really fit what I was trying to say and what I was certainly feeling. So, I encourage you to take a moment to read this post as I hope it encourages you as much as it did me, especially if you are struggling through a dry spell spiritually.
We hope everyone had a great Spring Break and a Happy Easter! If you weren’t here on Sunday, you missed the beginning of our new series, Hope. Go check it out online.
We are gearing up for softball season. Softball games begin tonight. You can check out a complete schedule here.
Don’t forget to sign up on Sunday to volunteer for our annual A Better City-Baldwin Clean Up Day. This event is Saturday, April 21st (if it rains, it will be held on the 28th) beginning at 9 a.m. here at the church.
Compassion Sunday is set for April 22nd. We received the packets this week and are very excited! To sponsor a child is $38 per month. Ask your family, friends, co-workers if they want to go in and help sponsor a child with you!
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 7-11. We are asking you, if you can, to take a day, morning, afternoon off during this week and help us love on the teachers at Baldwin Elementary. You can sign up to help on Sunday at the Resource Center.

In the continuing blogs about our Values, today I want to talk about one that is especially important given this is Easter week (Holy Week). Tell the Story is a value we embrace to tell the whole world about Jesus love for them. Each of our values is titled creatively, so for clarity allow me to use another word at this point for this value, Evangelism.
Jesus is the main story of our faith. The fact that He came from Heaven to Earth, to redeem man from their sin, because God’s love for us caused Him to provide a way back to Him. Therefore our story should be the same, Jesus saves, redeems, forgives, heals, loves, and provides redemption back to God. At Fellowship Church, His story is our story, and we seek to tell others about Jesus. It is all the more important for me to post this Value today as we approach Easter Sunday, the day we remember and revere Christ resurrection from the dead. Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:19-20, John 14:6, Romans 3:23, 5:8, 6:23, 10:9-10, 13
So, how do we share the story of Jesus? There are several ways, but we teach at Fellowship Church to invest and invite. Invest in the people God puts in your life, each one is an opportunity to share; and, then as the Holy Spirit leads, invite them into a relationship with Jesus. You can do this in several ways, invite them to church (FC provides an environment for people to follow Jesus), you can simple tell your story about how Jesus has changed your life, or you can learn several approaches from scripture that will help you guide them to faith in Jesus. I have found the most powerful way to share with someone is my story, the story of how Jesus changed me. People may not believe in church, the Bible or even God, but when you tell them what has happened in your life and they see the change it is hard to refute.
Now to the timing of this post. What better time to Tell the Story? Easter Sunday is the most attended church service of the year. More people who would never attend church do so on Easter. Why not make this Easter special by investing and inviting someone to church with you and begin a long relationship of guiding them to Jesus. Could it be the person you work with, your neighbor, a waitress, your banker, the parents from your little league team…who is God placing in your life right now that God is wanting you to Tell about Him?
This past Sunday was incredible at Fellowship. The worship team lead us in celebrating Jesus and then I shared the message of Faith to conclude our series on Faith. When I finished my talk, I felt an incredible sense that God was not through, and I invited people to follow Jesus. Five people raised their hands for prayer and then I invited them to stand, they did! Next I asked everyone to stand for prayer and invited the five to come forward to talk to someone about faith, all but one came forward and we shared with them and we will follow up with the one. The only word I can used for what God did was, Blessed! God showed up, and I for one was blessed beyond what I can express here. God is faithful!!!!!!!
Just a reminder, Sunday we begin at 11:00 am. Invite those God places on your heart to come and tell them to get here at 10:45 for a good seat. I can promise this: the worship will be incredible and the message filled with Hope. See you on Sunday.
Partners,
Here we are, the week before Easter. Spring break begins this afternoon and I am sure many of you will be hitting the roads today or tomorrow. Please know that we are praying for you this week. Be safe, have fun and we will see you on Easter Sunday!
It is not too late to begin investing and inviting…you have a week peeps! Craig has a great message lined up about Hope…how many of us feel hopeless in today’s economy? Mickey and the worship team and the creative team have made some changes to a few things and let me tell you, I am excited about it! The only hope we have today is the hope of Jesus Christ.
Many thanks to everyone who stayed last Sunday to help with spring cleaning…KidVille looks great and the cleaning that was done will help me today as I finish up the cleaning (Remember, if you want to sign up to help clean, just email me and let me know. I will make a cleaning schedule next week).
We have some great opportunities coming up in the next several weeks:
1. 1st Quarter Contribution Statements will be going out in the next couple of weeks.
2. Compassion Sunday is April 22nd. Please be in prayer for what your role in this will be. Sponsoring a child is a great honor. It is $38 a month. Think about sponsoring a child as a family, as a small group, or with some co-workers. You will be blessed.
3. A-B-C (A Baldwin Cleaning Day) will be April 21st (with rain date of April 28th). We are once again sponsoring this with the City of Baldwin. This event will be held here, with trash pick up along the sides of the roads, small service projects and just loving on our community.
4. Baldwin Elementary Teacher Appreciation Week will be May 7th-11th. We have some great activities planned for the teachers this week; but, we need your help. Will you consider taking off one day this week to help us love on some teachers. The blessings you receive cannot be put into words.
We will see you on Sunday, if you are traveling…remember to be safe and have fun!
